What is a private lesson?
Private Instruction with one or more key teachers provides each student with the specialized and personalized attention necessary to develop the ability to lead or follow a partner. These lessons provide the most benefit and ease for learning to dance since all material is catered to the in individuals learning ability and desire.
What is a Friday night party?
Our practice parties prepare you for dancing socially. Our students attend to have fun and dance. At our parties, we dim the lights, serve refreshments, food and have a fabulous time. This gives our students the opportunity to meet other students, and apply material learned on their private lessons without the pressure of the publics eye on them. Our parties ar not only for the advanced student but for the new student because all parties are guided with our host and our fabulous instructors.
Where will I use my dancing after my lessons?
Everywhere! Fred Astaire Dance Studios will guide you in any dance situation. Although many students come to us initially to learn for a special occasion, for example, a wedding, cruise, bar mitzvah, Doctor's Ball, etc., they find many other times for dance in their personal lives. Some dance at picnics, on the beach , at Summerfest, birthday parties, in their living room and the list goes on & on. Until you take the first step to learn, it is hard to imagine the many times you will "step out" into a dance situation.
How should I dress for my lesson?
Wear something comfortable that won't inhibit movement. Of course, comfortable shoes are recommended. We suggest leather soles and not running shoes. However our students love to dress up for their lessons.
How long before I am comfortable in a dance situation?
That depends on you! Everyone has a different sense of comfort. However, this is a school that teaches art. It is virtually impossible to learn how to play the piano or guitar in just a couple of hours, not matter how good you desire to be
